Workers compensation fraud Workers compensation fraud has become very common. It refers to a kind of fraud where an employee may lie and claim benefits out of an injury by exaggerating it as a work-related injury. But the fact is that the employer can easily find out the truth. Collecting benefits for a work-related injury is not a fault but justifying other injuries as work-related injuries is a mistake that most of the employees commit under the impression that their employers cannot find it out. Generally an employee who has been denied a vacation time, or some other benefit or fired can have a motive to claim benefits. Similarly after claiming benefits from his company the employee cannot work for some other company. This practice is popularly known as double -dipping. It is also a fraudulent act. Similarly if a newer employee claims benefits, it should be given a spot of introspection. Probably, the employer can conclude that as a lie incase of prevalence of other similar doubts on the newer employee. More Glossary Terms Explained here |
